Hi, Iām shauntrelle jenkins.
I am a BADT and DONA International trained full spectrum doula serving the Summerville/Charleston and surrounding areas!!
I wanted to become a doula so I could help close the gap and to provide advocacy to marginalized groups of parents who oftentimes do not get adequate labor and post-partum care due to an oversight of issues in their communities. I have always loved the idea of working closely with pregnant people to provide support during labor and the postpartum period to families in need. My favorite part in this work is seeing soon-to-be parents move through the challenges of childbirth and crossover the threshold into parenthood.
What is a Full spectrum Doula?
A full-spectrum doula is a community care worker who offers NON-Medical support to people during the full spectrum of pregnancy.
Labor Support
Labor and birth support often looks like verbal and nonverbal reminders to breathe, affirmations, comforting touch and other comfort measures, invitations to change positions, and communication support between client and care providers and/or partner(s).
postpartum support
Postpartum support often includes Cooking or coordinating meals/nutrition, offering information about postpartum healing, sharing newborn care tips and tricks, and helping the birthing person get connected to mental health professionals or other service providers.
**Doulas do NOT give medical advice
